KOMOMONO no MEIJIRO — Chopstick Rest with a Bird Looking Back

Part of the Komomono collection, this hashioki (chopstick rest) takes the shape of a Mejiro — the small Japanese white-eye bird known for its gentle, curious expression. Captured here mid-turn, glancing back over its wing, it brings a quiet, sculptural charm to any table setting.

Handcrafted in ceramic with a soft matte green glaze, each piece has the slightly organic, rounded form typical of Japanese ceramic figurines — smooth to the touch, with subtle hand-finished detailing around the eyes, beak, and wing feathers.

Traditionally used to rest chopsticks between bites and keep the table clean, a hashioki like this one is also a small piece of tabletop design in its own right — equally at home holding chopsticks for dinner or displayed on its own as a miniature ceramic bird figurine.
